My Music

Since I have been slaming the music scene I guess I should name who I like. This could be a long list. Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Roy Hargrove, John Coltrane, Garry Moore, Gillian Welch, Govt. Mule, Ray Charles, Allman Bros, Cassandra Wilson, Al Green, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Derek Trucks, Robert Randolf, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Warren Haynes, Susan Tedechi, John Hiatt, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Stevie Ray Vaughn> I could go on for ever but you get the message. Its rare that you hear people like this on the radio. These people really know how to make good music. Music that will make you feel good.

Radio Music

I have a nephew who when he was 16 we had a conversation about music. He was into Matallica and other Heavy Metal Bands. I asked him why he listened to that trash and he told me that that there was only 2 choices that kids of his age had. Metal and hip hop. I told him that there were many choices if he would only look for it. He was also a pretty good guitar player and mostly played Matallica. Anyway he is now 22 and a classical Guitar player. Never listens to the other stuff anymore. I can't take credit for this transformation but I guess "some" people can learn and change. Next post what I like to listen to.

Today's music

I have a real problem with what is played on the radio these days. Hip hop, country, Modern Rock or whatever they call it and even jazz. It all sucks. There is nothing that is any good on the radio. That doesn't mean that there isn't good music, it just doesn't get played on the radio. WHY? Can someone tell me. Radio jazz is almost like musiak. Hip Hop (RAP) is so bad it's beyond belief. It's like a vulgar nursery rhyme. So simple so stupid so vulgar so bad. Country music all sounds the same by the same person. Modern Rock is just spoiled kids whining about there bad lives. Someone needs to listen to Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" now that is music.
